DUNWOODY

“I Hate Hamlet”

If you’re looking for a different kind of play, then “to thine own self be true.” This tale follows the travails an actor goes through when he’s offered the dream role of Hamlet onstage. But, it’s complicated: In truth, he hates “Hamlet.” The main character, Andrew Rally, struggles with this quandary of whether to be or not be the star, all while dealing with relationship issues and a new apartment that just happens to be haunted by the ghost of famous “Hamlet” actor John Barrymore. Will Rally choose the part of a lifetime, or go back to predictable television work? Aye, there’s the rub. Find out how it unfolds in this Stage Door Players production.

8 p.m. Feb. 5-6; 2:30 p.m. Feb. 7. Running through Feb. 21. $15-$30. North DeKalb Cultural Arts Center, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody. 770-396-1726, stagedoorplayers.net.
