Blues concert
If the summer heat (or this year, the summer rain) has got you down, work through those doldrums with fellow music lovers and a bit of the blues in Vinings this weekend. The Vinings Jubilee shopping center is staging free shows throughout the season as part of its summer concert series, and, on July 22, crowd favorite and Atlanta local Lola will take the stage. Lola is a veteran blues singer who has played with Johnnie Taylor, won a national BET talent contest and recorded with Motown Records. Before the show, food and beverage will be for sale around the property.

Club Splash
Here’s another option for beating the heat. Take a live DJ, partner with free giveaways, add plenty of water and you’ve got Malibu Grand Prix’s Club Splash. For six hours on July 22, the park will host the wet and wild fun in its newest attraction, Buccaneer Cove, a five-story water play area with slides, splash pads and a giant splash bucket. If you’re ready for more fun, consider arriving early and checking out the park’s go karts, bumper boats, putt-putt golf course and batting cages.

Apple Quick Start Class
Tired of pressing the “home” button a thousand times? Sick of repeating things to Siri eight times in a row? Instructors from the Bluehair Technology Group, a nonprofit dedicated to helping adults master the intricacies of modern-day technological communication, will guide you through 90 minutes of instruction to help you figure out everything you need to know about your Apple product. Adults and teens alike are welcome. The session if free, but attendees must register in advance by calling or emailing the library.
