Renée Zellweger is stepping into Judy Garland’s ruby slippers.
Fans of the “Chicago” actress and the iconic Garland can get their first peek of “Judy” and listen to Zellweger’s performance as she belts out “The Wizard of Oz” classic “Over the Rainbow.”
The movie is based on the play “End of the Rainbow,” written by Peter Quilter, and starts with Garland’s 1968 performances at Talk of the Town in London through just before her death in June 1969, according to the Huffington Post.
Michael Gambon stars as Garland’s manager Bernard Delfont. Rufus Sewell portrays her third husband, Sid Luft, and Finn Wittrock plays fifth husband Mickey Deans.
Zellweger said she spent two hours every day in the makeup chair having crews put her into prosthetics, contact lenses and wigs, according to People magazine.
“Judy” hits theaters Sept. 27.
