Memphis rapper Robert Cooper Phillips has died. He was 40.

Phillips was best known as "Koopsta Knicca," a member of Memphis rap group Three 6 Mafia.

According to his management, Phillips recently suffered an aneurysm and was placed on life support at a Memphis hospital.

On Thursday, friends said Phillips was still breathing and they were holding out hope he would wake up.

But early this morning, his death was confirmed.

"We will continue to keep him alive with his music," an administrator said on Phillips' Facebook page.
