It's time to start the music and time to light the lights, The Muppets are returning to the small screen, but it won't be your parent's "Muppet Show."
According to Entertainment Weekly, ABC's new Muppet show will be a "mockumentary-style" series going deeper into the characters personal lives, promising a "more adult" show than other versions.
It will follow the characters behind the scenes as they launch their new show.
The Miss Piggy/Kermit love affair has always been a sub-plot of the movies and shows in the past, but according to Entertainment Weekly, it will go deeper into the soap-territory like "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal."
No word on when the show will premiere, but ABC is considering a straight-to-series order for the series.
The "Muppet Show" aired from 1976 to 1981 on Britian's ITV and in syndication in the United States. "Muppets Tonight" aired on ABC in 1996 and "The Jim Henson Hour" was on NBC in 1989, according to Variety.
