Brace yourselves, “Glee” fans; the show is on its way out. Fox’s musical dramedy about a high school glee club will take its final bow after its sixth season wraps up.
Co-creator Ryan Murphy told reporters at an FX Networks event Wednesday the show won't go past Season 6. "Glee" is currently in its fifth season. (Via TVLine)
The show is still reeling from the tragic loss of one of its lead cast members, Cory Monteith. The actor, who played quarterback Finn Hudson on the show, died of a drug overdose in July. (Via Hollywood Life)

Murphy said continuing the show has been difficult since Monteith’s death, even admitting the show’s end will have to be entirely reworked.
"I knew what the last shot was — [Monteith] was in it. I knew what the last line was — [Michele] said it to him. So when a tragedy happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what else you want to do. I have a good idea … which I think is very satisfactory and kind of an end in his honor." Murphy has yet to pitch the reworked ending to the network, but the numbers could mean the show is on its way out regardless. Variety reports "Glee" has lost 30 percent of its audience since the Season 4 premiere.
But despite Murphy's announcement, E! Online isn't willing to give up on "Glee" yet. The outlet cites multiple unnamed sources who say the show's end date is still to be determined and speculates the ratings boost from Monteith's tribute episode might spur Fox execs to order a seventh season.
“Glee”’s tribute to Monteith drew 7.4 million viewers, a 75 percent spike from the previous week’s episode.
