Even at the age of 81 (yes, really!) Ms. magazine founder Gloria Steinem shows no signs of slowing down or of skipping the chance to be exposed to fresh ways of thinking.

Need proof? When the famed journalist, political activist and women's rights organizer brings her book tour to Atlanta on Tuesday, Nov. 17th, she won't be appearing at a giant chain store or in some sold-out concert venue, but rather, at Spelman College. The afternoon event, "A Conversation with Gloria Steinem & Bell Hooks," is free and open to the public. Steinem will sign copies of her new memoir, "My Life on the Road," afterwards.

It probably comes as no surprise that Steinem would wind up at Spelman, one of the premiere women's colleges in the country. In a lengthy profile that ran in the New Yorker last month, Steinem discussed the continued appeal campuses hold for her.

“College campuses, she said, had always been ‘the single largest slice of my travelling pie,’” the article’s author, Jane Kramer wrote about Steinem. “Laboratories of social activism and, in the end, social change.”

The Nov. 17th event begins at 4 p.m. in the Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby Ed.D Academic Center Auditorium, located at 440 Westview Drive in Atlanta.
