For many people, the start of August means a return to a familiar routine. As many families prepare to bid farewell to summer break and send their kids back to school, it may be easy to forget to have some fun.

Jeff Beck with Buddy Guy

English rocker Jeff Beck will visit Atlanta as a part of Chastain Park's concert series with blues legend Buddy Guy. Beck and Guy are often listed among the best guitarist of all time.

Where are the Women in Sneaker Design?

The High Museum of Art will host a panel about female sneaker designers on August 5. New York designer Sophia Change will talk about her work with Puma and Los Angeles’ Melody Ehsani will talk about her collaboration with Reebok.

A concert featuring Speakerfoxxx and Bosco will take place on the Sifly Piazza after the panel concludes.

Be sure to check out The High Museum’s “The Rise of Sneaker Culture” before heading to the event.  150 pairs of sneakers are on display, showcasing popular products from popular brands such as Converse and Puma. Shoes in the collection are from the Bata museum, private collections and manufacturer archives.

Twenty One Pilots

Twenty One Pilots will bring their millennial anthems to the Infinite Energy Center in August.

"If/Then"

The popular Broadway musical “If/Then” will visit the Fox Theatre six days in August. The musical follows a newly divorced woman named Elizabeth as she moves back to New York and explores the two paths that she could take going forward.

Piedmont Park Arts Festival

The two-day Piedmont Park Summer Arts and Crafts Festival will offer attendees of all ages a chance to enjoy artist demonstrations, live music and partake in typical festival fanfare. The festival focuses on art festival focuses on visual mediums and will feature painters, crafters, photographers, glass blowers, jewelers and more.

Tori Kelly

Tori Kelly will perform at Turner Field following the Braves’ upcoming game against the Washington Nationals on August 20. Like recent Flo Rida and Chris Stapleton post-game concerts, admission to the game is covered in game tickets.

Drake and Future

Following a surprise performance at Gucci Mane's recent homecoming show, Drake and Future will perform their collaborative mixtape "What a Time to Be Alive," along with their individual hits during back-to-back concerts at Philips Arena later this month.

Grant Park Summer Shade Festival

Celebrate the last weekend of summer by enjoying some outdoor, family-friendly fun at the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival. The two-day festival includes the Grant Park Farmers Market, live music, a Kids Zone and a 5K run.

Admission to the festival is free, but for $50 attendees can enjoy the festivities from a private pavilion that will feature guided wine tastings and cooking demonstrations.

“Da Kink in My Hair”

Trey Anthony’s “Da Kink in my Hair” takes viewers into the salon of a West Indian hairstylist. The musical tells the stories of her clients as they sit in her chair in preparation for special occasions and for routine appointments. Learn why many women joke that their hairstylist is also their therapist in this production.

The musical opens at Horizon Theatre Company this weekend.
