You can start off September with some of Atlanta's premier events for the whole family, like AJC Decatur Book Festival and Dragon Con. Once you've had your fill, there's a pretty impressive list of those happenings just for the grown folks.

Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade Workshop

Atlanta natives anticipate September for a lot of things: Dragon Con, fall festivals, and the annual BeltLine Lantern Parade. The Parade debuted back in 2010, and has been growing ever since - bringing together more than 60,000 people in 2015 for a spectacle of glimmering lights and sounds. You can watch from the sidelines or take part in the parade yourself; if you want to join the parade, however, you must have a lantern. Make one at home or attend a workshop, like this one hosted by Chantelle Rytter and Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons.
Rumours: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac

Return to a simpler time and close out summer in style at The Great Gatsby Lawn Party. Take a step back to the end of the 1st World War and the roaring sounds of the 1920's; indulge in tasty treats and warm up your feet to big band scores. There will be dance lessons, contests, lawn games including croquet, bocce, and so much more (including a vintage paper moon photo set). Period attire strongly encouraged - whisky flask and all.
Restaurant Industry Celebration at SunTrust Park

Celebrate the restaurant industry with The Giving Kitchen at SunTrust Park as the Braves battle the Marlins. There are two ticket packages available: VIP and a Home Run Porch. Both include a game ticket and a donation to The Giving Kitchen to help in their efforts to provide emergency assistance grants to Atlanta's restaurant community facing unanticipated hardships.

It's time to spice up your life do a little home decorating, grab your friend or spouse and head over to Central Park for a painting tutorial event. Local artist Aleigha Reott will teach how to paint an original (and beautiful) piece of artwork all while sipping on a boozy drink. The businesses in the historic neighborhood are opening their doors and inviting guests to sample wines from around the world. Rock is very much alive and well with Philadelphia's The War on Drugs, whose sound resides at the edges of American music: gritty and fine-tuned, expansive and enveloping as their albums play through.
