Tamar Braxton takes over the Tabernacle on Wednesday with her “Love and War” tour.
“ATL is my second home. It’s time to turn up,” Braxton said.
The sold-out show humbles Braxton, who is normally known for her exciting and over-the-top personality. She plans to give her fans, also known as the “Tamarians,” a show they will continue to talk about long after the curtain closes.
“I get my life every time,” she said.
Braxton praises her dancers and everyone who is a part of the show for giving it their best each time. She will perform songs from her sophomore album, “Love and War,” an album that stemmed from her heart and means so much to her. The youngest of the Braxtons’ six children, she has always had a passion for performing and finally gets her time in the limelight.
“It’s really all about having the opportunity to do what I’ve always wanted to do, and that is to perform and record albums,” Braxton said.
She remains blown away by how far she has come in the past year. With her “Love and War” album, Braxton was nominated for three 2014 Grammy Awards. Although she did not win, she expressed how much being nominated influenced and inspired her.
“It was amazing just being recognized by your peers and people you have admired in this industry for so long. The people I have been looking up to all these years know who I am, and that means a lot to me,” Braxton said.
Currently, Braxton also stars in two reality shows, WE tv’s “Tamar & Vince” and “The Braxton Family Values.”
“Working with my sisters is always fun and working with my husband is very natural,” Braxton said.
Braxton and husband Vincent Herbert welcomed their first child, son Logan Vincent Herbert, last June. If that wasn’t enough on her table, she also will be a host of the syndicated daytime talk show “The Real,” which premieres Sept. 15. She continues to reject being compared with her R&B icon sister Toni Braxton.
“I think we have two totally different styles. Toni is very sultry, who’s really known for her ballads, and I’m also known for a ballad or two but I’m also known to drop it like it’s hot and pick it back up sometimes.”
The earlier part of her “Love and War” tour featured R&B singer R. Kelly until Braxton set off for the second part of her tour as a solo act.
“You really get the Tamarian experience,” she said. “If you don’t know what that is, you find out that night. Definitely.”
