FRIDAY

Shaky Knees Music Festival

For its third act, the Shaky Knees Music Festival is looking to build on its past growth. In its inaugural year, the predominantly indie rock gathering commandeered Masquerade Music Park — actually, more of a mud pit that weekend. Then, it moved to the drier concrete grounds of Atlantic Station for its sophomore season in 2014. Lucky No. 3 will see promoter Tim Sweetwood heading a bit east of downtown Atlanta to offer an eyebrow-raising lineup in Central Park, located in the Fourth Ward West neighborhood.

12:30-11 p.m. May 8-10. Artists include the Strokes, Pixies, Mastodon, the Avett Brothers, Wilco, Ryan Adams, Tame Impala, TV on the Radio, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Social Distortion, Interpol, Old Crow Medicine Show and more. $99 single-day general admission; $215 three-day general admission; $225 single-day VIP. Children under 8 are free with a paying adult (no more than two kids per adult), but it is highly recommended not to bring children under 8 years of age. Central Park, at the intersections of Central Park Place, Pine Street and Piedmont Avenue in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward. 1-800-745-3000, shakykneesfestival.com.

Zac Brown Band

The band's fourth album, "Jekyll + Hyde," might be the most appropriately named album this century. The Atlanta country superstars haven't abandoned their breezy harmonizing, but a whiplash-inducing grinder with Chris Cornell ("Heavy Is the Head") and the soulful '70s groove of "Loving You Easy" indicate their interesting detours. The band's violinist, Jimmy De Martini, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that ZBB also is working on a new pack of cover songs for the tour.

7 p.m. May 8-9. $36.50-$89.50. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park, 2200 Encore Parkway, Alpharetta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com.

SATURDAY

John Fogerty

The distinctive-voiced member of rock royalty recently launched a new leg of dates for his 1969 tour, which takes a look back at that memorable year in Creedence Clearwater Revival history, which saw the release of “Bayou Country,” “Green River” and “Willy and the Poor Boys.” Fogerty himself remains 69 until the end of the month, furthering the tie-in. He also has announced an Oct. 6 release for his memoir, “Fortunate Son: My Life, My Music.”

8 p.m. May 9. $35-$65. Gwinnett Arena, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth. 1-888-929-7849, gwinnettcenter.com.

Night Ranger

Since the early ’80s, this underappreciated Bay Area band has churned out a parade of hits, including “When You Close Your Eyes,” “(You Can Still) Rock in America” and the pop culture staple “Sister Christian.” Though the lineup has morphed over the years, the core trio of singer-bassist Jack Blades, singer-drummer Kelly Keagy and guitarist Brad Gillis remains, along with guitarist Keri Kelli and keyboardist Eric Levy.

With the Best Brothers Band. 8 p.m. May 9. $40-$100. Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, 201 McIntosh Trail, Peachtree City. 877-725-8849, ticketalternative.com.

SUNDAY

ZZ Top with Jeff Beck

This classic-rock nirvana show originally was slated for last fall, but after ZZ Top's Dusty Hill took a nastier-than-originally-thought spill on the band's tour bus, the date-rearranging began. Recent reviews point to a hits parade from the ZZ trio, including "Got Me Under Pressure," "Sharp Dressed Man" and "Legs," while Beck's hourlong opening set includes his version of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing" and a vocal assist from onetime Macon resident and Wet Willie frontman Jimmy Hall.

7:30 p.m. May 10. $29.50-$79.50. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park, 2200 Encore Parkway, Alpharetta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com.

WEDNESDAY

Ciara

The Atlanta-based R&B-soul songstress is on her first major tour in six years, a move she made to support her sixth full-length album, "Jackie," released this week. The album's first single, "I Bet," is an obvious kiss-off to Atlanta rapper Future, Ciara's former fiancé and father of her 1-year-old son, Future Zahir Wilburn. The little guy makes an appearance in mom's new video for the Diane Warren-penned song "I Got You," which premieres Friday.

8 p.m. May 13. Sold out. Center Stage, 1374 W. Peachtree St., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com.

THURSDAY

Bette Midler

Of paramount importance: Note the date change from May 13. Thanks to the Atlanta Hawks’ playoff run, the Divine Intervention tour will arrive in Atlanta a day later than planned. (Previously purchased tickets will be honored; refunds are available at the point of purchase.) As for the show, which is supporting her recent album, “It’s the Girls,” Midler said in an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (which you can read in Monday’s Living section) that she has a 14-piece band and, sadly, fans will have to say goodbye to her iconic mermaid-in-a-wheelchair, Delores Delago.

8 p.m. May 14. $46-$211. Philips Arena, 1 Philips Drive, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com.
