A roughly triangular-shaped area in the Midtown neighborhood of Atlanta, Piedmont Park contains several auxiliary structures including an elevated brick bandstand and round columned domed gazebo. The 189-acre park is off Piedmont Avenue between 10th and 14th streets. The grounds were part of the Battle at Peachtree Creek during the Civil War. Piedmont Park Conservancy manages the property and organizes educational, environmental and recreational activities. The park also offers an off-leash dog park, tennis courts, picnic areas, two children's parks, and several paths suitable for walking and running as well as designated areas for roller-blading and biking. A newly renovated swimming pool, called the Family Aquatic Center, opens on Memorial Day 2009.
