Vice President Joe Biden introduced performer Lady Gaga at the Oscars Sunday night.
The performance, and Biden's introduction, was a call to stand up against sexual assault.
Lady Gaga performed her Oscar-nominated song, "Til It Happens To You," which was co-written by multiple Oscar nominee and songwriter Diane Warren.
The song is nominated from "The Hunting Ground," a documentary about sexual assault on college campuses.
Dressed in a white pantsuit and singing at a white piano, the pop singer sang the ballad against a string orchestra.
As she played the piano, survivors of sexual assault appeared on stage and surrounded Gaga.
The survivors, men and women, had messages written on their right forearms.
With their arms extended, messages like, "Survivor " and, "You are not alone," were written across the front of survivors' arms.
The performance was met with a strong standing ovation, with actresses like Kate Winslet and Rachel McAdams visibly moved.
