An Ohio man got the surprise of his life for his 30th birthday Monday when star performer Kid Rock showed up to help him celebrate.

Dan McGurk, who has Down syndrome, is one of Kid Rock's biggest fans. In August McGurk posted a YouTube video explaining why he thinks the Detroit rocker is the best and invited the singer to his birthday.

With help from friends and family, Kid Rock became aware of the request and made McGurk’s birthday wish a reality.

"I've been waiting for this ...Kid Rock finally came to my birthday," McGurk told Toledo television station WTOL. "He came in singing 'Happy Birthday' and my face lit up and I was so excited to meet Kid Rock."

In the YouTube video of Monday’s birthday celebration posted by Dan’s sister-in-law, Colleen McGurk, Dan is seen smiling incredulously when the rock star brings out his birthday cake and sings "Happy Birthday."

Kid Rock also gifted Dan a hat, a framed photo and signed Dan’s book.

"He told me if I be good to my family and all my friends at work I get free tickets to every Kid Rock concert,” Dan told WTOL.
