ROSWELL

“One Slight Hitch”

The day of a big wedding can be a little crazy, and “One Slight Hitch” is a show that puts the audience right in the heart of the chaos. The perfectly planned event quickly comes apart when the bride’s ex-boyfriend arrives unannounced. Written by Lewis Black, a comedian known for his furious rants and “Daily Show” appearances, the play switches between an old-fashioned sitcom setup and the off-the-wall political humor that Black is known for. This production by the Georgia Ensemble Theatre contains adult language that may not be suitable for younger viewers.

8 p.m. Jan. 9 and 10; 2:30 p.m. Jan. 11. $27.50-$37.50. Roswell Cultural Arts Center, 950 Forrest St., Roswell. 770-641-1260, get.org.

March to the Sea lecture

Last year marked the 100th anniversary of Sherman’s March to the Sea. Historian and lecturer Michael Shafer will take Pickett’s Mill Battlefield Historic Site visitors back to that era during an hourlong lecture on the history surrounding the march, the events leading up to it, and its impact on Georgia. The park is home to a battlefield where the Confederates slowed Sherman’s advance on Atlanta, and many of the earthworks built during the fighting are still intact. The lecture will take place in the visitors center.
