The Bonaventure Quartet with Amy Pike at Everett’s Music Barn
The acclaimed Bonaventure Quartet, which is actually a group of more than four Atlanta-based Django Reinhardt devotees, bring their classic standards, western swing, gypsy jazz and original tunes to this unique venue. With vocalist Amy Pike on the mic, the band is performing this benefit to raise funds and awareness for Family Promise Gwinnett, an organization looking to help homeless families rise above their struggles. Guests are invited to bring their own picnic dinners, nosh along to the music and partake in the silent auction. The show is dubbed “Jazz at the Barn” and is part of the two-day Poverty is Real series. The May 18 show features the Everett Family Band.

Hogs Gone Wild Americana Biker Fest at Meehan’s Public House
Those with a penchant for two wheels — everything from a rumbling Harley-Davidson to a hipster scooter — are invited to roll up for this afternoon of celebration. In honor of Armed Forces Day, Meehan’s salutes active, reserve and veteran members of the armed forces with specials on edibles and libations. While some will be checking out the bikes owned by fellow customers, others march inside to take advantage of the all-pork Hogs Gone Wild menu. Active military with a valid ID or in uniform get a 10 percent discount on food. Hickory-smoked ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, smoked pork belly poutine and more highlight the list. Drinkers can get their motors running as they toast $6 Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey shots. Groups have the opportunity to share $15 Coors Light buckets of beer. Five percent of the net sales taking place between noon and 9 p.m. will be donated to the USO.

Funny Fridays and Funny Fridays: Saturday Edition at Aurora Theatre
The yuks keep on coming as this notable comedy series returns. Yet don’t let the name fool you. It takes place on a Saturday, too. Professional funny fellow Tom Simmons headlines the latest installment. He’s the guy who won the 2009 San Francisco Comedy Competition, a highly regarded notch in any comic’s belt. Simmons will likely offer up his observational wit, one he armed himself with during the 2005 Comics on Duty tour of Iraq and Afghanistan. Debra Cole is back as the show’s hostess with her own arsenal of jokes to blast upon the crowd.
