Wings Over North Georgia Airshow at Richard B. Russell Airport

All eyes turn to the sky for this two-day celebration of flying machines. The Black Diamond Jet Team, one of the world’s only non-military jet demonstration teams, headlines the weekend. Others on the sprawling bill include members of the Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornet Demonstration Team, the Aerostars Aerobatic Demo Team and the Geico Skytypers. The latter team specializes in aerobatic tricks and writing messages in the sky. A host of other attractions fill the weekend, from the Smoke-n-Thunder BBQ Classic competition to child’s play in the Kid’s Zone. Aircraft rides will be available for additional fees. A special barbecue party and concert package ($65) includes Saturday admission, reserved parking and a show starring the country-tinged Kurt Thomas Band and the Andrews Sisters-inspired Ladies for Liberty.

Harvest on the ’Hooch at Chattahoochee Nature Center

The center will be raising awareness of its Unity Garden, which provides fresh fruits and veggies to North Fulton Community Charities Food Pantry and emphasizes the benefits of the farm-to-table philosophy. Local chefs from eateries, including Muss & Turner’s, the Mill Kitchen & Bar and Oak Street Cafe, converge to whip up dishes. Kids dive into outdoor yard games and a scavenger hunt, while having the opportunity to get up close and personal with alpacas. Food, desserts and local beer and wine come courtesy of Whole Foods. And don’t be surprised to hear an acoustic guitar and a fiddle as the Fulton Ramblers bring the sound.

Fall Festival at Riverview Landing

This mixed-use community perched alongside the Chattahoochee River plays host in its third annual Fall Festival. Food vendors tempt the taste buds of both adults and kids by shilling candy apples and kettle corn. Sweetwater beer and seasonally themed libations pour for the grown-up set. An artists market, pumpkin patch, corn maze, massive hay slide and tractor-pulled hay rides keep guests occupied. Sign a waiver and you can hop aboard a canoe. Live music comes from the amplifiers of Rockit 88, BooHoo Ramblers, Hair of the Dog and Rolling Nowhere. Beginning at 6 p.m. Yacht Rock Schooner delivers smooth ’70s AM nuggets.
