ALPHARETTA

Alpharetta Farmer’s Market on Old Canton Street

Each Saturday through Oct. 12 this outdoor market draws locals looking for locally grown goodness. Vendors shill edibles including veggies, fruits, natural meats, desserts, raw honey and breads. Products run the gamut from homemade sauces and jellies to soaps and candles. On a given Saturday you might find booths such as Noemi’s Tamales or the Pop Shop, the latter featuring homemade ice treats. Various vendors offer flowers and plants, providing plenty of natural color to the event.

DULUTH

Ballybeg Band at Duluth Town Green

The SummerStage Concert Series continues with a bit of green. Yeah, it takes place at Duluth’s Town Green, but we’re talking Irish green. The Celtic-infused music of the Ballybeg Band will fill the air. The audience may be tempted to kick its heels when the band launches into Irish jigs and reels. Pipes and whistles, a fiddle, a guitar and percussion meld together to take the audience on a trip across the pond to the land of leprechauns. Guests can bring their own chairs and blankets, as well as food and drinks. It’s an open zone event, which means folks can bring alcohol from home or buy it from a licensed merchant in Downtown Duluth. You’re allowed to tip back libations while watching the show or walking around the downtown area.

7 p.m. Aug. 30. Free. Duluth Town Green, 3142 Hill St. NW, Duluth. www.duluthga.net.

PEACHTREE CITY

Fireworks at Drake Field

The rainy weather on July 4 dampered lots of local festivities. However, the powers-that-be in Peachtree City are making it up to their residents by lighting the celebratory fuse and bringing out the fireworks Labor Day weekend. Heck, they already paid for the production, so why not? The colorful blasts will take place over Lake Peachtree beginning at 8:30 p.m. So what happens if dark clouds hover and rain falls once again? The final rain delay date for the fireworks is set for Saturday, Aug. 31.

8:30 p.m. Aug. 30. Free. Drake Field, 151 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City. 770-487-7657, www.peachtree-city.org.
