‘A Very Grinchy Christmas’
Whether it’s a spouse’s office party or fighting the crowds at the megamall, you’re likely to get dragged to something that will make you grumpy this holiday season. Get a jump on your bah-humbug before all that begins with a visit to one of the season’s more dastardly characters, the Grinch. The Southern Ballet Theatre brings Dr. Seuss’ green-skinned creature to dancing life for three performances at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center.

National BBQ Cup
They say certain foods can warm the soul. Now that it feels like winter outside, warm your body and soul with a bit of barbecue at Cumming’s two-day National BBQ Cup. The tasting tickets are five for $5, which also includes one voting ticket so you can rate your favorite dishes. Pick from professional and backyard teams competing for cash prizes and the title of best barbecue. Along with the food, there’s a lineup of arts and crafts vendors, product demonstrations, live entertainment and activities for kids. A portion of the proceeds supports local charities.

Cirque Italia: ‘Aquatic Spectacular’
No, it’s not that Cirque, but it is rather like the other touring event currently playing in Midtown. This performance is called “Aquatic Spectacular” for its 35,000-gallon water tank. The show’s aerial acts, contortionists and hula-hoop artists perform under the tent and above the tank. In addition, colorful moving fountains and a water curtain are part of the act. Performances last two hours. Tickets can be purchased in bundles to help reduce the cost.
