MARIETTA

“Laughter on the 23rd Floor” at The Alley Stage

This weekend is the last chance to catch Next Stage Theatre Company’s version of Neil Simon’s successful Broadway giggle fest. It’s a fictionalized take on the playwright’s backstage adventures while writing for the landmark 1950s TV variety show “Your Show of Shows.” The competitive writing staff of “The Max Prince Show” duel with their pens to see who can impress their program’s star, a funny man who marinates himself in pills and alcohol. Rob Roy Hardie directs a cast that includes Las Vegas actor Gus Langley. Adult language and profanity flow throughout the play, and it’s best suited for those age 13 and older.

8 p.m. Feb. 21-23. $20-$25. The Alley Stage, 11 Anderson St., Marietta. 678-744-6398, www.nextstagetheatrecompany.com.

DULUTH

Jennifer Daniels at Eddie Owen Presents at Red Clay Theatre

Singer-songwriter Jennifer Daniels may be a Tennessee-bred mountain gal, but her musical heart holds a special place for metro Atlanta. In 2000 she won the fabled open mic contest at Eddie’s Attic, beating out soon-to-be superstar Zac Brown. She continues forging ahead with her own acclaimed music, her husband Jeff Neal by her side on guitar and mandolin. Audience members can get in on the act at this show. It’s being filmed and recorded, and footage will also be used for a mini-documentary celebrating Daniels’ 15 years in the music business. Mike Willis opens.

8 p.m. Feb. 23. $15 advance; $18 at the door. Red Clay Theatre, 3116 Main St., Duluth. 404-478-2749, www.eddieowenpresents.com.

SANDY SPRINGS

Wit in Wood: The Art of Moses Robinson at Heritage Sandy Springs Museum

This recently opened exhibit honors the folk art creations of Moses Robinson, a former Sandy Springs resident who passed away in 1942 at the age of 97. The disabled farmer carved out a niche by creating art out of found objects, from walnut shells to peach pits. Robinson gave a lot of his wooden figures and toys to children. Many of these detailed pieces will be on display now through Sept. 4. Visitors can also experience the rest of the museum, which includes its permanent exhibit Sandy Springs: Land and People, a history of the area dating back to the original Native American inhabitants.

11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. $3; $1 ages 6-12, and 65 and older; free ages 5 and younger, and Heritage Sandy Springs members. Heritage Sandy Springs Museum, 6075 Sandy Springs Circle, Sandy Springs. 404-851-9111, www.heritagesandysprings.org.
