“Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”

If you have kids, they may have seen the movie earlier this year, and chances are they’ve read the entertaining book. Now, the whole family can enjoy the musical version of “Alexander and Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” which promises to be anything but terrible, horrible or bad in the hands of actors at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta. From the gum in his hair to watching icky kissing on television, the performance romps through the wacky adventures encountered by the unfortunate Alexander during his horrendous day — which, here, only lasts an hour.

2 and 4 p.m. Dec. 14. $10-$20. MJCCA-Zaban Park, 5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody. 678-812-4000, atlantajcc.org.

Reindeer Day

For the fourth year in a row, Santa’s reindeer make a pre-holiday trek to Georgia with a scheduled stop at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. They’ll be the featured attraction during Reindeer Day, which also corrals a number of other live animals. Along with the up-close view of the sleigh team, guests can take in a nature hike, storytelling, marshmallow roasting, crafts and a costume parade. The Nature Exchange will showcase how animals survive during the cold winter months. Admission to the reindeer viewing is included with the center’s entrance fee. Guests also may bring a picnic and spend the entire day outdoors.

1-4 p.m. Dec. 14. $6-$10. Chattahoochee Nature Center, 9135 Willeo Road, Roswell. 770-992-2055, chattnaturecenter.org.

The school’s Retirees Association is sponsoring the performance as a fundraiser for its scholarship program for relatives of KSU retirees. A meet-and-greet session with Byrom will follow the performance. Tickets are only available in advance by ordering online.
