It's the first official weekend of fall and there are plenty of ways to get out and enjoy metro Atlanta with loved ones.
From apple picking to the opening of Six Flags' Fright Fest, here are five things to do this weekend in Atlanta:
Celebrate fall
Today is the first official day of fall and there are plenty of things to do this weekend to usher in the new season. Get lost in a corn maze, indulge in a pumpkin spice latte or pick apples at a local orchard this weekend per our list of nine things things to do this fall.
It’s been 42 years since the inaugural festival combined Greek cuisine and live entertainment in a festival setting.
You can enjoy live music from headliners Alpha-Omega Sound and dance shows by local artists, or visit the drive-through on your lunch break to grab a gyro sandwich, or a chicken lathorigano plate — the latter comprised of broiled chicken basted with a marinade of oil, lemon and oregano, rice pilaf, green beans, spanakopita and a roll.
The drive-through is open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sept. 22-24 and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sept. 25.
Fright Fest
Halloween may seem far away, but the annual activities surrounding the spooky day are about to get revved up. Six Flags’ Fright Fest will give crowds an opportunity to fight through mobs of “infected people” in their new scare zone before they experience a new haunted maze. In total, attendees can enjoy 8 scare zones, six mazes and six live shows.
Fright Fest begins this weekend on Sept. 24 and runs through Oct. 31.
If you’re a fan of fall festivals, we have a fun one to attend this weekend. East Atlanta Strut will show off the best of East Atlanta Village from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sept. 24. Visit the artists market, listen to live music and purchase festival food during this free festival.
If you love wings as much as the characters in 'Atlanta,' there's an event on Sept. 25 that is going to make you incredibly happy. Atlanta Wing Fest, produced by popular fall festival Taste off Atlanta, will allow attendees to sample wings from 25 restaurants and watch as chefs show off their skills on a Big Green Egg. Tickets are $25 before the event and $35 at the door.
