Former reality TV stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are expecting a baby.
The once-controversial couple of MTV's "The Hills" shared the news with Us Weekly on Wednesday.
“The look on her face, I can’t even describe it,” Pratt said of when his wife found out she was pregnant. “She was literally glowing. I thought she was about to say she made muffins or banana bread.”
Pratt said Montag told him she was pregnant.
“I was like, ‘Whoa, that’s way more exciting than banana bread!’” he said.
The expectant mom told Us Weekly that she felt “overwhelmed.”
“I started crying, and he embraced me,” she said.
Montag, 30, has come a long way since her early reality TV days. In 2009, when she was 23, she underwent 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day and detailed her desire to "feel better, to feel perfect," to People Magazine.
Pratt, who currently sells crystals online, was a villain of sorts on "The Hills," admitting in 2015 that he started a rumor that fellow cast member Lauren Conrad, who was once friends with Montag, had made a sex tape.
The couple, who has been married for eight years and together for 10, said work obligations were part of the reason why they waited so long to have a baby.
“I wanted a baby three years ago. Spencer was a little hesitant. Then one thing after another came up. ... I’m actually really thankful we waited,” Montag said. “I thought I was ready in my twenties, but with everything we had going on, it just wouldn’t have been a good situation for us.”
They don’t know the sex of the baby yet, but Montag, who is 12 weeks along, is hoping for a boy. She is due October 19.
“I’d love to have a son and for the Pratt name to continue,” she said.
Montag said that although she has morning sickness, she’s looking on the bright side.
“Every time I feel awful, I remember why and I’m just euphoric,” she said. “It’s so fulfilling, and I’m mostly just grateful. I’ve been with the love of my life for 10 years, and now we’re starting our own family.”
