Fans of the iconic metal band Megadeth were shocked Sunday morning to learn through social media that former Megadeth drummer Nick Menza had died.

He collapsed on stage during a concert Saturday with his new band, Ohm, in Los Angeles. He was 51 years old.

"Tell me this isn't true," Dave Mustaine, the band's frontman tweeted around 5 a.m.

According to Billboard Magazine , Menza died after collapsing on stage during the third song of the band's performance. Paramedics could not revive him.

Menza played drums for Megadeth throughout the 1990s on some of the metal band's most popular albums including “Rust in Peace,” “Countdown to Extinction” and “Youthanasia.”
