It's Festival Fever this fall. On successive September weekends we have One MusicFest with Snoop Dogg and Goodie Mob ( Sept. 14 at Masquerade Music Park), Music Midtown with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Journey (Sept. 20-21 at Piedmont Park) and TomorrowWorld, a massive international electronic music fest making its U.S. debut (Sept. 27-29 on farmland in Chattahoochee Hills, www.tickets.tomorrowworld.com).
But if the multi-act circus is an exhausting thought, there are plenty of options for those who prefer the power of one act.
A few months after scoring the album of the year Grammy for "Babel," British folk-pop heroes Mumford & Sons will strum their way into Centennial Olympic Park (Sept. 10). The show is already sold out, indicating just how far the band has come since playing The Buckhead Theatre in 2010.
As Mumford's star ascends, the high-wattage of Rod Stewart (Oct. 19, Philips Arena) continues to blaze as the well-coiffed singer supports his latest album, "Time." It's his first original rock album in more than a decade and finds the old lad still kicking (literally – expect to see some booted soccer balls at his show). The equally stylish Michael Buble will croon his suave pop tunes at The Arena at Gwinnett Center (7 p.m. Oct. 27, 1-888-929-7849 or www.axs.com).
If you'd prefer to take it down a level, November brings a couple of big names to small rooms. Lisa Marie Presley, whose first album, the bluesy-rocking "To Whom it May Concern," landed her a Top 20 hit with "Lights Out," returned last year with the mature and moody "Storm & Grace," produced by T Bone Burnett. Hear what she can do live at Eddie's Attic (two shows, Nov. 10). Predisposed to a little more flash is Atlanta's soul-funk princess Janelle Monae, who will bring her black and white motif, James Brown-influenced dancing and a lot of spunk to The Tabernacle (Nov. 26).
Philips Arena doesn't have much white space on its calendar the week of Dec. 14, as Pink makes a return appearance – more aerial tricks, please – that night, followed Dec. 15 by renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and on Dec. 17, Justin Timberlake, who dons his suit and tie to deliver "The 20/20 Experience."
Unless otherwise noted, tickets to all shows can be purchased through Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com.
