Sundays are hard. Oftentimes, they’re spent preparing for the work week that is to follow.

But, not today. Since the Fourth of July is this Monday, most people will have a three day weekend and a four day work week.

When you go back to work on Tuesday, your fun doesn’t have to end. There are still plenty of fun things to do throughout the work week before Friday arrives.

Here are our top suggestions:

Celebrate Fourth of July

Whether you’re looking to see an amazing fireworks show or participate in a local parade, there are plenty of options for things to do in metro Atlanta this Fourth of July. Head to Lenox Square and watch their highly-anticipated 15-minute fireworks show or head to the Marietta Square for a parade, fireworks, kid-friendly arts and crafts, and more.

DIY Summer School

Looking for a fun and affordable way to make sure your children are still learning throughout summer? Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning is helping parents create a “DIY Summer School” schedule for their kids, specifically children 5 years old or younger.

From reading their favorite book to animal charades and shapes scavenger hunt, here is a month worth of (mostly) free activities that you can do with your children this summer.

Music in the park

Head to the Southern Company Amphitheatre in Centennial Olympic Park on Tuesdays or Thursdays during lunchtime to hear live music. Visiting the park between noon and 1 p.m. is a great way to break up the monotony of your workday before heading back to the office to be productive.

The series runs through October and offers a variety of music. Visit centennialpark.com to see who will perform each week.

The Little Pirate Mermaid

You’ve never seen The Little Mermaid like this. The classic tale gets an interesting twist in this Center for Puppetry Arts production. You can catch the show every day this week, except on the Fourth of July.

Tickets are $20.50 per person.

Visit puppet.org for show times and tickets.

“On You: Wearing Technology”

Most of us wear some form of technology on a daily basis. The Museum of Design Atlanta is looking into how these devices have become more popular and practical lately with their exhibit “On You: Wearing Technology.” Sponsored by Georgia Tech Wearable Computing Center, the exhibit will look at the people who utilize this technology as well as their creators.

The exhibit opened June 26 and will be open through October 2.

General admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, ages 6-17.
