I became an expert in midday meals in early childhood. When asked my favorite subject in school the reply was always "lunch," so I decided to make it a career. So far it's going great! Want an A in Lunch 101? Some of Atlanta's best restaurants serve their best dishes in the middle of the day. Try these picks when looking to dine decadently for less.
Miller Union
Chef/Author Steven Satterfield has been called the vegetable whisperer but don't worry, there's plenty of meat here. Be sure to get the special house made ice cream sandwiches for dessert. They're available only at lunch.
Canoe
This iconic Atlanta restaurant is at its best in daylight. Try the house smoked salmon with crispy potato cake while overlooking the Chattahoochee River. It's like taking a work vacation in the middle of the day.
Empire State South
Want more meat? The ESS Superfood plate has hanger steak, lettuce, quinoa, lentils and coleslaw. If it's a nice day, play bocce ball and run into celebrity chef/owner/author Hugh Acheson. Way to impress your boss!
The Optimist
You need to get the chowder fries, and yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. They are only available at lunch. You can't beat the outdoor patio and sexy bar with high ceilings. It's a perfect place to take friends from out of town.
Burger Bar at Park 75
This is a great way to experience the spectacular Four Seasons Hotel in Midtown. Each Wednesday at lunchtime, Chef Robert Gerstenecker serves up a different burger menu. The informal counter service makes it super casual and the lounge-y atmosphere will make you want to stay until happy hour.
Superica
Krog Street Market is popping, so fight the crowds and do lunch. Try the thick nachos at Superica and grab a beer at Hop City afterwards. Taking the rest of the day off is optional (but encouraged.)
Bones
Come here for the ultimate power lunch and a throwback to another time. Their burger is consistenly one of best in the city. Pair that with the legendary corn pudding and consider your business deal closed.
