Roswell Restaurant Week expands
The third annual Roswell Restaurant Week expands to become a multiweek promotion this year. It kicks off on Jan. 21 and runs through Feb. 1. In recent years, downtown Roswell has become one of metro Atlanta's hottest dining destinations, with the area around bustling Canton Street home to rows of restaurants, bars, shops and galleries. As always, participating restaurants, which include Little Alley Steak, Table & Main, Vin 25 and newcomer Osteria Mattone, will offer special, prix fixe or discounted menu options. roswellrestaurantweek.com.
Fry, MF, Bartaco at 280 Elizabeth
According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, three restaurants recently signed leases to open in the new mixed-use development at 280 Elizabeth Street in Inman Park. Chef Ford Fry will offer a spinoff of his Westside hit, the Optimist, the Kinjo Bros. will bring a new version of MF Sushi, which closed in Buckhead in 2012, and nearby Barcelona Wine Bar will debut a new casual concept called Bartaco. The project, which includes 200 luxury apartments, retail and restaurant space, is scheduled to finish construction in early 2015.
Woodfire Grill ‘Eat Your Drinks’
Putting a new spin on "culinary cocktails" and bar snacks, Woodfire Grill recently launched "Eat Your Drinks," a clever collaboration between bar manager Brian Stanger and chef Tyler Williams featuring cocktail and light bite combos ($15) with a common ingredient. The debut menu includes a GrassRoots Farms duck bun with huckleberry truffle dip paired with a huckleberry shrub mixed with Bittermens Burlesque bitters, Marques de Gelida cava and Meyer lemon. Hiroko Shimbo at Cook’s Warehouse
Chef Hiroko Shimbo, an expert on Japanese cuisine and author of three cookbooks, including 2012's "Hiroko's American Kitchen" (Andrews McMeel, $25.99), will be the chef-instructor later this month at Cook's Warehouse stores in Midtown (Jan. 28) and east Cobb (Jan. 29). Shimbo is known for bringing Japanese flavors, techniques and ingredients to American cooks with her sauce-based approach. $50. classes.cookswarehouse.com.
