What’s new on dining scene
New tastes at Turner
Monday’s opening day at Turner Field marked a new baseball season for the Braves and a new menu from Aramark, the ballpark’s food service company. Beyond the buzz about H&F’s three burger stands, and the return of the Kevin Rathbun Steak sandwich, there’s more local flavor from Dantanna’s new grill cart serving sesame steak skewers. Other new tastes include the Chipper Jones tribute Yicketty Yamwich and the Yicketty Yogurt self-serve yogurt and slushie stand.
Paper Plane takes off
Taking off under the radar last week, Paper Plane is hidden away in the back of the recently opened Decatur location of Victory Sandwich Bar. Look for boutique wines, craft beers and cool cocktails by partner/barman Paul Calvert. In the kitchen, Melissa Allen and Josh Sample are cooking up a short list of “fine foods” presented as medium-size plates like a braised short rib with white bean puree. 340 Church St., Decatur. 404-377-9308.
Mac McGee in Roswell
Mac McGee, Decatur’s popular Irish pub known for its big book of whiskey, has opened a second location in Roswell. The two-story, former Pastis space sports a bright red facade, two bars and an upstairs porch overlooking busy Canton Street. Open for lunch and dinner, with favorites such as fish and chips and bangers and mash, as well as a draft beer list focused on Irish and British imports and American craft offerings. 936 Canton St., Roswell. 770-518-2866.
Game X on
Pitched to adults, Legacy Property Group's Game X opened last week across from the Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta's Luckie Marietta District. The $4 million state-of-the-art arcade offers a place to "play, drink and dine," with the likes of "Pac-Man Smash" and "Dark Escape 4-D," two specialty cocktail bars, and fast-casual salads, sandwiches and tacos. 275 Baker St., Atlanta. 404-525-0728, gamexatl.com.
