November is Vegan Month. And while the number of strictly vegan restaurants in Atlanta is small, there are plenty of places to find good food that isn't cooked with animal products.

ATLANTA

Dynamic Dish

True to its name, this vegetable-oriented restaurant features a dynamic array of elegant and tasty dishes made with seasonal local and organic ingredients. The menu changes daily, but there's usually a soup or two, an entree special, salads and a sandwich of some kind. Right now, most dishes reflect the greens and other fall vegetables that are in season. Look for a rosemary roasted tofu sandwich, with roasted carrots and onions. Saturday night's feature is organic thin crust pizza with local toppings.

$4.95-$13.95. 427 Edgewood Ave. 404-688-4344, www.dynamicdish.net.

SANDY SPRINGS

Cafe Sunflower

Cafe Sunflower in Sandy Springs offers up vegetarian cuisine, along with some 20 vegan offerings, plus beer and wine and plenty of dessert indulgences. You'll find the flavors of Asia, Mexico, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean in fresh takes on everything from hearty soups and bright salads to dishes that incorporate quinoa, cornmeal, wheat flour and soy. The Sunflower Box is a colorful, cross-cultural sampler of spring rolls, stuffed mushrooms, dumplings and more.

$5-$16. 5975 Roswell Road N.E. 404-256-1675, www.cafesunflower.com.

WEST END

Soul Vegetarian Restaurant

A strictly vegan restaurant is a rare find in Atlanta. Here, daily specials are served up with soul food flourishes. Offerings range from a bean burrito to lasagna, and the Garvey burger, made of kalebone (a high-protein meat substitute), is a perennial favorite. Salads, soups, juices, smoothies, shakes, soy ice cream and desserts are a big part of the daily attraction. Friday is pizza night. Sunday, it's fluffy vegan pancakes, scrambled tofu and soy breakfast "meats."

$8-$15. 879 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. S.W. 404-752-5194.

MARIETTA

Vatica Indian Vegetarian Cuisine

Thali, platters of veggie dishes with rice and bread, are the specialty of the house at Vatica, a fun and funky outpost of Indian Gujarati cooking in Marietta. There's no menu. But that's not a problem. Just sit back, relax and wait for what's cooking that day to arrive. It could be nicely spiced okra, eggplant, potatoes, squash or cauliflower, and there's almost always lentils or chickpeas.

$8.99-$10.99. 1475 Terrell Mill Road S.E., Suite 105. 770-955-3740, www.indiagourmet.com.
