Atlanta’s St. Patrick’s Day parade took place last weekend. The odds of seeing a tiny dog riding down Peachtree Street on an inflatable float this weekend are pretty slim, but don’t let that discourage you from going out!
Whether you’re bar hopping for St. Patrick’s Day or taking your child to see a modern production of “Cinderella,” there is plenty to do throughout metro Atlanta.
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
The St. Patrick’s Day parade came through downtown Atlanta last weekend, but the celebration is far from over. St. Patrick’s Day is March 17 and there are plenty of ways to drink and have fun throughout the weekend.
“Annie”
Celebrate the fact that the sun is supposed to come out this weekend by heading to the Fox Theatre for a production of “Annie.” Sing along with girls from the Hudson Street Orphanage during the show, which is directed by original lyricist and director Martin Charnin.
Times vary. March 17-19. $30-$75. Fox Theatre, 660 Peachtree St., Atlanta. foxtheatre.org.
Atlanta Airport District Restaurant Week
Pig and the Pint, Cecilia's Southern Table and The Corner Grille are among the list of restaurants that will participate in ATL Airport District Restaurant Week this year. The restaurant week begins March 18 and ends March 26.
Participating restaurants will offer prix fixe menus for $9, $19 and $29 or specialty dishes at a 20 percent discount, making this week a great time to discover a new restaurant or revisit your favorite dining spot.
“Cinderella and Fella”
After creating Troubadour, Atlanta playwright Janece Shaffer is tackling “Cinderella.” This family-friendly production puts a fun twist on the classic fairytale, adding an emphasis on friendship over romance and throwing a few lightning bugs and singing cicadas into the mix.
Times vary. March 19-April 9. $18-$32. Alliance Theatre, 1280 Peachtree St., Atlanta. Alliancetheatre.org.
Gennadi’s Choice
Get to know Atlanta Ballet artistic director Gennadi Nedvigin this weekend by attending “Gennadi’s Choice.” Curated by Nedvigin, the show will feature a 19th century work, Liam Scarlett’s “Paquita to Vespertine,” as well as the world premiere of “Denouement,” a work from Atlanta Ballet dancer and choreographer Gemma Bond.
8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. March 17-March 19. $20-$128. Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, 2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway, Atlanta. Atlantaballet.com.
