Taste of departed Rainwater lives on at Milton's

Those still missing meals at the shuttered Rainwater may find some solace in the new dishes on the menu of Milton's Cuisine and Cocktails. The kitchen of the Crabapple restaurant is now under the direction of former Rainwater chef Boyd Rose. He's joined in the front of the house by former Rainwater manager Jimmy Carter.

A completely revamped dinner menu will debut soon. Meanwhile, Rose has already added a Charleston crab bisque; blackened sea scallops with pimento grits; and skillet-seared salmon with creamed corn and asiago grits. Traditional Southern favorites of shrimp and grits and fried chicken with mashed potatoes are also in the lineup. Rose has also added a new Sunday brunch a la carte menu that includes salmon and cornbread blinis; pecan and banana French toast; a fried catfish sandwich; and a salmon BLT. Brunch hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Dinner service has expanded to include Mondays. Hours are now from 5 p.m. daily. Milton's is located in a 150-year-old farmhouse at 780 Mayfield Road. 770-817-0161, www.miltons-atl.com.
