Nixon to get a second bite of ‘The Real Thing’
Tony Award winner Cynthia Nixon is ready for another shot of "The Real Thing."
Roundabout Theatre Company said Thursday that Nixon, who starred in the Tom Stoppard play when it first came to Broadway in 1984, will come back this fall in a revival with Ewan McGregor and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
The play about relationships and fidelity centers on a married playwright who falls for an actress. In 1984, Nixon played the teenager Debbie. This time, 30 years later, the “Sex and the City” star will tackle Charlotte, her mother.
Previews begin Oct. 2 and it will open officially on Oct. 30 at the American Airlines Theatre under the direction of Sam Gold.
Nixon was in “Wit” on Broadway and won a Tony for “Rabbit Hole.”
Forest Hills to host concert with Zac Brown Band
The Forest Hills Stadium, a storied New York City sports and concert site, will launch a full music season this year.
The Zac Brown Band will perform June 21 at the Queens site, the stadium announced Friday. Tickets go on sale April 22. More concerts will be announced at a later date.
The stadium’s prime ended in 1978 when the U.S. Open tournament moved 3 miles away to Flushing Meadows. It has hosted iconic acts including Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra and Bob Dylan.
The 16,000-seat stadium is entering the second phase of a multimillion dollar renovation project, which includes new seating. Mumford & Sons performed at the venue’s West Side Tennis Club when it reopened last August to a sold-out crowd.
