B-52s singer celebrates union

Kate Pierson, long famed as a member of the iconic Athens-born band the B-52s, is celebrating after marrying her longtime partner, Monica Coleman.

“It’s official!” Pierson posted the other day with a photo of the two.

Pierson's power vocals have propelled fans to the dance floor for 40 years. Her first solo work, "Guitars and Microphones," was released in February. She and Coleman live with their dogs in Woodstock, N.Y., now, but Atlanta and especially Athens still feel like home, she told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an interview ahead of her July concerts in Atlanta and Athens.

“Every time I go to Athens, it’s not just a trip down memory lane, there’s some surprise,” she said. “It’s a magical place. I love Atlanta. I feel really at home in Atlanta. We spent a lot of time there. But Athens is like home to me.”

Star sightings

Brooklyn Decker and Andy Roddick dined at STK recently. Jennifer Garner and Queen Latifah filmed scenes for "Miracles From Heaven" near the Georgia Aquarium the other day. And Georgia's most famous former child beauty pageant contestant is back to school in metro Atlanta. Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, her mother "Mama June" Shannon and sister Lauryn now live in Hampton, and this week the girls started the fifth and ninth grades in the Henry County school system.
