With snow covering the ground, it's hard to think about anything summer. But if you have little ones, the time is now to sign up for camp.

You know that. Whether you're looking for a place to help develop character,  learn new life skills or just make new friends, the problem is finding just the right one among the many traditional and specialized offerings. Just as searching for the right college will be later, this can seem a daunting task at first.

For years, traditional camps that offer variety of activities were the only options. But these days focusing on one activity such as dance, basketball, cooking or farming is becoming the norm.

Alliance Theatre is offering parents a 40 percent discount Tuesday on all of its spring break and summer drama day camps.

Your child will have the opportunity to explore musical theater, acting on camera or the magical stories featured in Honk!, Around the World in 80 Days, and other upcoming Alliance productions.

The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta is offering families several new camps on its list. They include Space Camp, Lego Robotics, Aviation Creation, Trek & Travel, and Tour D’Atlanta Cycling.

Although registration lasts through the summer, parents are encouraged to register now to guarantee free bus transportation and secure their top choice of camps.
