Praise 102.5's radio personality Rhodell Lewis ends his show the same way every time:
"I wanna thank you, God, for giving me one more chance to minister through music and remember those who bring sunshine into the lives of others."
Lewis, the host of "Faith Drive in the Afternoon with Rhodell Lewis," believes it's his job to inspire listeners.
"People just want to hear something good and positive," said Lewis, who goes by the handle of "Rhodell in the ATL." "They've heard so much bad news."
Lewis, 54, prepares himself each day by praying before he goes on air.
"Gospel is on top in my opinion," said Lewis, who also hosts an Internet gospel program. "Everyone loves to be inspired because of the economy and the difficulties we deal with on a regular basis."
Lewis will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award during the 16th annual Gospel Choice Awards, which will be held Monday at the Georgia World Congress Center.
The show recognizes gospel performers and Georgia ministers and churches, said Creed W. Pannell Jr., creator of the awards show. Evangelist Juanita Bynum will also be honored, receiving the Thomas A. Dorsey Award.
"Atlanta has the best talent in the country," Pannell said. "It's steeped in tradition."
Pannell plans to take the awards show on the road and hopes to establish a presence in other markets, including Birmingham, Charlotte and Orlando.
