As Atlanta thaws out from this week's ice storm, Zoo Atlanta is offering weekend events that include Valentine treats for the zoo animals and chances for zoo visitors to see panda cubs and lion cubs. Here are the details from Zoo Atlanta:
WHO: The ice is melting, the holiday weekend is here, and President's Day weekend presents a welcome warming trend packed with family fun in the home of nearly 1,400 animals around the world.
WHAT: The weekend kicks off with Valentine's Day surprises for giant pandas, gorillas, orangutans, meerkats and red panda on Saturday, February 15. Saturday, Sunday and Monday are sure to be charmed by the antics of Mei Lun and Mei Huan, the only giant pandas in the U.S., and a foursome of African lion cubs, born to Kiki on November 19, 2013. The lion cubs, a female and three males, are trotting, stalking, and pouncing ever closer to life as a pride; visitors may even be treated to sightings of the youngsters interacting with their father, Kamau, who has recently been participating in regular introductions to his newest offspring.
