More car trouble for George Michael

George Michael was being treated at a hospital Friday for what his publicist called minor injuries after being a passenger in a car crash near London.

A statement released Friday said the singer was in an accident on Thursday night and suffered “superficial cuts and bruises.”

The statement from publicist Connie Filippello said no other vehicle was involved in the crash. She declined to provide details about where Michael is hospitalized or when he will be released.

The popular singer has had numerous car-related problems in recent years.

He was imprisoned for eight weeks in 2010 after crashing his Range Rover into a photo shop in north London, pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and possessing marijuana.

Bieber billed for monkey business

German officials say Justin Bieber will have to pay the bill for his monkey’s two-month stay at a Munich animal shelter.

A spokesman for Munich’s customs office says the cost of care, food and vet visits for capuchin monkey Mally is several thousand dollars.

Customs spokesman Thomas Meister says Bieber had until midnight Friday to claim the monkey seized by authorities March 28 when the singer failed to produce its papers after landing in Munich on tour.

The shelter says his management company has asked that the 20-week-old monkey be placed in a zoo.

But customs has yet to receive a formal request for that from Bieber or an authorized representative.

Travis seeks to block video

Country music star Randy Travis has filed a lawsuit to prevent the release of patrol car video of his 2012 drunken-driving arrest in North Texas.

The Austin American-Statesman reported Thursday that the lawsuit names the Texas Department of Public Safety and the attorney general’s office.

A judge originally granted a defense request to block the video from being released. But media groups requested the video from DPS, and the attorney general’s office ruled this month that the judge didn’t have discretion to bar the video’s release.

Prosecutors have said the singer was found naked by a road after crashing his Pontiac Trans Am. He pleaded guilty in January to driving while intoxicated and was sentenced to two years’ probation.

DPS and the attorney general’s office didn’t immediately comment Friday.
