DALTON

Twilight Music Festival & Georgia Cup Bike Race on King Street

As bike races loop around downtown Dalton, a festival takes place. Vendors sell food and drinks, a kid’s zone hosts activities for the younger set, and arts and crafts will be for sale. A farmer’s market will be offering produce and more. Beginning at 3 p.m., bands take the stage. The Herd kicks things off with straight-ahead rock. Nathan Sexton follows at 5 p.m. with alt-rock. And Burn wraps things up with its mix of rock, blues and soul.

2 p.m. July 31. Free. 500 W. King St., Dalton. 706-278-3332, www.twilightmusicfest.com.

EAST ATLANTA

Batusis at The Earl

Sylvain Sylvain, guitarist of New York Dolls, and Cheetah Chrome, guitar slinger for Dead Boys, combine their early punk pedigrees to form Batusis, a name inspired by the campy ’60s “Batman” TV series. The pair, backed by Joan Jett’s rhythm section, oil its garage rock and share the vocal mike. Expect to hear cuts from the band’s four-song EP that was released this past spring. It includes the rollicking “What You Lack In Brains” and a lumbering cover of “Blues Theme” from Roger Corman’s 1966 biker film “The Wild Angels.” Sylvain and Chrome will both likely give nods to their own catalogs. Staying in the spirit of the headliners, local New York Dolls disciples The El Caminos share the opening slot with The F’n Heartbreaks.

9 p.m. July 31. $10 advance, $12 at the door. The Earl, 488 Flat Shoals Ave. S.E., Atlanta. 404-522-3950, www.badearl.com.
