Blessing of the Bikes at Killer Creek Harley-Davidson

Looking for more motorcycle safety besides a helmet? This event offers good vibes as folks hit the road for the spring riding season. The Rev. Allen Boyd, also known as Chief White Eagle, will encourage riders to bow their heads with a nondenominational prayer. Cleto “Humkoodra” Montelongo provides a Native American blessing, chant and smoke ceremony. The Killer Creek HOG Chapter will be grilling up grub for purchase.

Stile Antico at Spivey Hall

Stile Antico, a Grammy Award-winning early music vocal consort from Britain, will be exploring love, desire and seduction through the work of Spanish composers and pieces popularized in Spain. Expect to hear everything from Gombert and Lhéritier to Vivanco and Victoria. The group’s name literally means ancient style. Stile Antico’s most recent release, “Song of Songs,” won the 2009 Gramophone Award for Early Music and made noise on the Billboard classical music chart.

Self-Defense Seminar at American Bodyworks

Men and women interested in taking self-defense classes but not quite ready to commit can get a complimentary taste. American Bodyworks teaches Brazilian jiu-jitsu, a form of martial arts that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. This class is based on that art form and teaches basic easy-to-use moves for practical self-defense. Students will learn how to stand and fall properly, among other things. The class lasts about one hour and is available for ages 13 and older.
