So, you say you want to go to Greece. But, maybe you lack the necessary drachmas, or just the stomach for all the airport drama you’d have to put up with to get there.

No problem. Your public library — who else? — is here to help.

Throughout December, the DeKalb County Public Library (DCPL) is offering patrons a chance to dip their toe into aspects of Greek culture, ranging from books to food to dance. There'll be a screening of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" for seniors (55 and up) on Dec. 15th, and a version of the Greek Olympics for kids aged 6-to-12 at the Decatur Recreation Center on Dec. 19th. It's all part of the DCPL's "Embrace Our World" initiative, made possible by the DeKalb Library Foundation and the Decatur Craft Beer Festival Grant. There'll be a similar series of Japan-themed events and activities in January.

Everything's free and you don't even need a library card to attend (but … seriously? Everyone should have a library card! To find out how to get one in DeKalb, go here). You can, however, pick up a special Library Passport at any of the Embrace Our World events and start collecting stamps as proof of your participation. Not to mention your increasing sophistication, you world traveler!
