Beyoncé, Georgia resident Barbara Brown Taylor in Time's 'most influential' edition

Beyoncé is this year's cover girl for the annual list of "Time's 100 Most Influential People in the World" released Thursday. North Georgia author Barbara Brown Taylor also makes the list.

The magazine also created inside "covers" featuring actor Robert Redford, GM CEO Mary Barra and Jason Collins, the NBA's first openly gay player.

The Time 100 is the magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world. This year's issue features tributes written by high-profile guest contributors.

"An acclaimed Episcopal preacher and best-selling author, Taylor lives quietly on her farm in northern Georgia, writing spiritual nonfiction that rivals the poetic power of C.S. Lewis and Frederick Buechner.," her Time profile says. "Her latest book, Learning to Walk in the Dark, is her 13th, and in it she urges believers and nonbelievers alike to dive into the deepest shadows of their lives in order to confront their worst fears and to find strength for life's journey. In the process, she adds, their faith may deepen. "If you are in the dark, it does not mean that you have failed and that you have taken some terrible misstep," she says. "For many years, I thought my questions and my doubt and my sense of God's absence were all signs of my lack of faith, but now I know this is the way the life of the spirit goes

Why Beyoncé on the cover? As website Idolator writes: "Over the past year, Bey has completed a global tour, released a visual album under cover of night which single-handedly revived the music industry while shattering its status quo and oh right the music was also incredibly good. "
