Actress Jamie Brewer made history Thursday by becoming the first model with Down syndrome to walk the runway at New York Fashion Week.
According to Today, Brewer, an "American Horror Story" star, modeled for designer Carrie Hammer's Role Models Not Runway Models campaign. Hammer's models are business leaders, philanthropists and other inspirational women.
"Young girls and even young women … [see me] and say, 'Hey, if she can do it, so can I,'" Brewer told Today. "It's a true inspiration being a role model for any young women."
Brewer wore an A-line dress that Hammer hopes first lady Michelle Obama will wear someday.
"Many women have many sides to their personality; this dress fits ... mine," Brewer said. "I am honored to be in it."
