The neighborhood of East Atlanta Village is quirky, eccentric and a plain ol' good time any night of the week. This weekend, the eternally hip community will gather to showcase all of its quirkiness for a good cause.
Pop Up at Holy Taco's, beginning noon Sunday, July 23, will feature dozens of vendors, dj's and local artists seeking to raise money for community projects in EAV. The tight-knit neighborhood draws hundreds of outsiders each week for its popular farmer's market, (held every Thursday from April to December), and, of course, those who want to dance and rock the night away at places like Mary's and The Earl. Sunday's event is a way to show off the unique neighborhood's artsy side.

The basics
Gathering the community to come together and grow is a glorious thing - and that's exactly what creator of the Pop Up, Chris Wright (Chris Makes Art) set out to do. Wright, in partnership with the East Atlanta Strut, organized the event to expose the community to local artists and bands in efforts to raise money for community projects in EAV.
Location, location, location
The Pop Up will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 23 in Holy Taco's parking lot, 1314 Glenwood Ave. SE. Parking is already difficult to find in EAV −subtract Holy Taco's lot from the mix and it only gets harder. Carpooling, Lyft or Uber is highly suggested.

Art vendor heaven
It wouldn't be a true Pop Up without vendors, and this event has got tons. On top of all the artists (Maggie Baxter, Briana Stubblefield, Lindy Lane), there will be jewelry (Extollo Jewelry, Brigid, Lynx Handmade), antiques (Georgia Vintage Goods, Carol Hall) and even soaps (Katy, Bernadette Brown).
There will be plenty of art and artisan items on display(complete list here), so take your time to appreciate it all and maybe even purchase something for yourself or as a gift for someone.

Live music
EAV is all about the music, some of the most interesting and talented bands have made their way through its treasured venues (529, The Earl), so it's no surprise you'll have plenty of it at the pop-up event. The bands will include, but not limited to, And That Is Why, Rebel Ding Dong, as well as punk/rock DJ's.
Give back
In addition to the great vendors and music, the event will conclude with a charity raffle with awesome prizes to raise money for the neighborhood through the East Atlanta Strut. The Strut, now in its 20th year, is a free one-day festival in September put on by the community. It features multiple stages of local music and comedy, food and an artists' market to raise money for neighborhood charities, organizations, and local businesses.
