UPS is giving $1.5 million in cash and in-kind donations to support recovery after Superstorm Sandy.

The Sandy Springs logistics company is donating $250,000 to the American Red Cross to help with shelter, $250,000 in logistical aid and $1 million to a variety of relief organizations to help with long-term recovery through 2013. The company is working with the Red Cross to ensure relief supplies are being delivered.

Next week, UPS will deliver 14 truckloads of supplies to New Jersey and New York.

Friday, there were still some ZIP codes in New Jersey and New York where UPS was not making deliveries. But the company said in a statement that some drivers are attempting deliveries even in some areas where businesses remain closed.
