Small businesses to get help with exporting
Several state and federal agencies will be represented at free seminars May 7 for small food and agricultural business interested in getting their products to overseas markets.
The “Explore Exporting: The World is Waiting” seminars will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Atlanta Midtown hotel, 866 West Peachtree Street.
In addition to the Southern United States Trade Association, which is hosting the event, representatives from the state Department of Agriculture, state Department of Economic Development, U.S. Export Assistance Center and Small Business Administration will be present.
Georgia exports grew to nearly $35.9 billion last year, from nearly $34.8 billion in 2011.
The seminars target businesses with fewer than 500 employees. SUSTA will subsidize up to 50 percent of promotional and marketing costs involved in getting a company’s product exported. The group will also provide other support, such as guidance on regulatory issues companies may face.
SUSTA is a non-profit agricultural export trade development association comprised of the Departments of Agriculture of Georgia and 14 other states and the Puerto Rico.
