Six Flags Atlanta Properties said Thursday it will add new rides for the 2013 season at its Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water amusement parks, two of Metro Atlanta’s top summer tourism destinations.
Sky Screamer, the state’s first extreme swing ride, will be installed at Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell. Typhoon Twister, a five-story water drop ride, will open at Six Flags White Water in Marietta. Both will debut next spring.
“It’s a key part of our marketing campaign to make sure we have something new and exciting to talk about every year,” said Six Flags spokesman Brad Malone.
Texas-based Six Flags Entertainment Corp., which operates 19 parks across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, does not release financial results for individual properties. But the company announced in July that second quarter 2012 revenue grew 11 percent over the prior year to a record $375 million.
The company said the increase was driven in part by an 11 percent, or $20 million, increase in ticket revenue. Attendance increased by one million visitors, or 12 percent, over the prior year.
