Japanese manufacturer Rinnai said Friday it will establish a manufacturing plant south of Atlanta where it plans to employ 300 in the next 10 years.
Rinnai, perhaps best known in the U.S. as the maker of tank-less water heaters, said it would make components for that product at the new facility in Griffin in Spalding County. The $69 million facility will initially have 150 jobs, a news release from Gov. Nathan Deal’s office said.
Rinnai’s U.S. arm is based in Peachtree City. The tank-less water heaters are Rinnai’s top-selling product in the U.S.
“Georgia’s economic prosperity is a result of strong partnerships and collaboration with industry leaders from around the world,” Deal said in the release. “This announcement follows a successful trade mission to Japan, where we met with Rinnai executives to discuss the strategic resources and top business environment Georgia has to offer.”
Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson said there are more than 500 Japanese companies in the state that employ about 30,000 people.
Last month, Rinnai held broke ground on an expansion of its Peachtree City headquarters campus, which included an innovation center.
