Avalon, the massive mixed-use project in Alpharetta, will kick off its grand opening Oct. 30 with four days of events.

North American Properties, developer of the closely-watched $600 million project, said weekend festivities will include live music, open houses of shops and restaurants, fireworks, trick-or-treating and a viewing party for the Georgia-Florida football game.

The 86-acre project at Ga. 400 and Old Milton Parkway includes a Whole Foods grocery store, movie theater, high-end retailers such as Crate & Barrel and Orvis, restaurants, 250 luxury apartments, 101 for-sale homes and office space. The complex’s second phase is expected to include more offices and a hotel and conference center.

The project, once called Prospect Park, stalled under its previous developer, Stan Thomas. North American Properties, the company behind the revival of Atlantic Station’s town center, took control of the property in 2011.
