Atlanta-based Novelis Inc., an aluminum products manufacturer and recycler, said it will sell its North American consumer foil products business to Reynolds Consumer Products Inc. for $35 million.

The deal includes manufacturing plants, sales offices and distribution facilities in LaGrange and in four Canadian cities: Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Mississauga. The operations employ about 200.

Reynolds Consumer Products, based in Lake Forest, Ill., is the company behind Reynolds and Hefty products.

Marco Palmieri, president of Novelis North America, said the foil products business is no longer aligned with the company’s growth strategy.

“Our primary focus is to continue our growth in the premium markets of automotive, beverage cans and specialty products, and to expand our recycling leadership,” Palmieri said in announcing the deal.

Novelis has about 11,000 employees globally. It is part of the Aditya Birla Group, based in Mumbai, India.
